Michael Giménez, Costa Rica: It is great that there are active intercultural experts who connect people from Latin America and the Czech Republic.

Michael is working in the Czech Republic now but he comes from Chisco in Costa Rica. He’s a software engineer and his office in Costa Rica established a branch in Prague and sent him to the Czech Republic to work here for some time.

How did you find the adaptation-integration course?

The course was very informative. I had already known a lot before but I still learnt some new things, for example about the recognition of documents. It was also interesting to learn about the health care and emergency situations when you need an ambulance.

Was any of the information surprising to you?

Not really. The transport, the system of education, etc. are similar to what we have in Costa Rica. However, I did not know that Czech NGOs were so active. It is also great that the intercultural experts who connect people from Latin America and the Czech Republic are active, too. And I am glad that people can get involved in a lot of activities as volunteers.

At work we speak English, so I have no problem with fluent communication in English. I like Czech people very much – they are serious but their sense of humor is great.
